Gale Contracting Limited is one of Marlborough’s most progressive forest harvesting businesses, providing quality harvesting services to forest owners and companies in the Marlborough region since our inception in 1997.
We have an excellent team of staff – led by Andy and Matt Gale (the business owners) who are supported by personnel in Health and Safety, Training, and an Office Manager. Our harvesting crew are an outstanding team of over 30 men, spread across our four harvesting gangs, and ably supported behind the scenes by our workshop staff.

Andy and Matt Gale
Business Owners and Managers
Andy and Matt Gale have a combined experience of nearly four decades in the forestry industry. Both have four certificates each in Forest Harvesting, have completed cable logging workshops with tutors such as Ron Prebble and Brian Tuor, and are committed to ongoing professional development of themselves and their staff. While they work closely together to manage the business, Andy is primarily responsible for the business development side, while Matt takes the lead on operational matters.

OUR CREWS
All of our crews are highly skilled, experienced and qualified. Many have completed qualifications to National Standards Level 4 in the relevant areas; and while the remainder are already “Qualified for Task” we anticipate they will also have completed their qualifications to National Certificate Level 4 shortly. Because of the length of experience of much of our team – many staff additionally hold pre-National Standards qualifications. A majority of our staff also hold current first aid certificates.
